5 Innovative Kitchen Storage Solutions

There’s more to designing a kitchen than physical appearances – yes, the cabinet color selection, cabinet door style, and decorative detail are very important – but don’t forget about what goes inside the cabinets. If done the right way, the interior planning of your cabinets can dramatically improve the day-to-day use of your Kitchen Storage Solutions. There are many cabinet storage solutions that have become extremely common, such as trash pull outs, spice racks, and cutlery dividers. We’d like to share some new ideas that aren’t seen as often.

1. Base corner storage: Hafele Lemans II Arena pull out.. Before corner pull outs like this one, the only solution for accessing corners were “blind” corner cabinets (likely named as such because you have to reach blindly into the cabinet where items are stuffed away out of sight) or a lazy Susan. There’s nothing wrong with using either of these methods, but they do fall short where convenience is concerned. The Lemans II makes it easier to reach the items stored inside a corner cabinet. The shelves are made in a unique shape that swivel fully outside of the cabinet, providing easy access to all items in the cabinet.

2. Servo Drive touch activated trash pull out, made by Blum. Servo drive is an electric motion support system that allows pull outs to open by themselves from one touch and close gently with a second touch. This is a huge advantage while working with dirty hands from cooking or washing dishes. By tapping the door panel with your elbow or knee, the entire trash pail mechanism pulls out on its own. You can open your garbage and throw out your trash without dirtying the door panel and handle. The unit closes again with a second tap on the door panel.

3. Mixer shelf lift-up. This is repeatedly a favorite of our clients. If you have a kitchen-aid mixer that you use regularly but either dislike the look of it on your counter, or are getting tired of moving it in and out of storage, this accessory could greatly benefit you. The mixer shelf lift-up is a permanent placement for your mixer. You will never have to lift it again. The mixer is placed on a shelf, hidden within one of your Kitchen Storage Solutions cabinets, that lifts out and up to counter height. You keep the mixer on the elevated shelf while in use, and then push the shelf back down inside the cabinet when finished. It’s an easy to use system that is smooth and sturdy. You should plan to have an outlet installed in the back of this cabinet for power supply.

4. Charging drawer. This solution isn’t that new, but is still unknown to many people. Most custom cabinet manufacturers will offer this as a standard accessory within their product book. A charging drawer includes an electrical receptacle inside the cabinet drawer itself. These drawers are often used as “charging stations” – a central spot in the house where everyone drops their phones, tablets, laptops, etc, to charge. So now, instead of electronic items cluttering Kitchen Storage Solutions counter, they can be tucked neatly inside a drawer. ot a new storage idea, but they continue to be one of the best ways to solve a very common problem for homeowners: How do you keep your countertop appliance conveniently accessible without having to stare at it all the time? The answer is: Pocket doors. Pocket doors hinge like regular doors, but after they are open, they can be pushed back into a pocket within the cabinet. When the doors are closed, the contents of the cabinet are hidden. When the doors are open, they can be slid away to reveal your toaster, coffee maker, etc.
